HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!

It is easy to take our beautiful home for granted when you are used to seeing it every day. For many of us, it is not until you have been away for some time that you are able to see it for what it really is.

I have been to many places in the world and every time I return home, I fall even more in love with Australia. We often don’t realise how lucky we are. Not every country has everything you need at your fingertips. We have fresh water, plenty of food, support, transportation, safety, open space, not to mention the beauty of our natural surroundings.

As I went for my morning jog, I became aware of the view. There I was facing the rugged coastline, with lights sprinkled from the shoreline inwards. The sun was contemplating its first appearance, while the moon was still holding fort. We have certainly had some spectacular skies in recent times.

I felt completely safe in my community, which I can’t say the same for some of the places I have travelled. Of course, there is no such thing as complete safety, things happen, but in this southern area of Adelaide, it is very rare. You’re far more likely to encounter a stranger who is willing to help someone than hurt someone.

Australia truly is a lucky country. We are fortunate to have a variety of contrasting landscapes, which we share as a community, from magnificent beaches, wild scrub lands, red sand, lakes and forests. And, let’s not forget the Bunnings sausage!

Times may be difficult for humankind at present but, I urge everyone to take a moment and appreciate what you do have, rather than what you don’t. Our home here in Australia, to me, is like the most precious, rare gem that ever existed.

Below, we have included a selection of photos that capture some of those stunning skies we have seen recently.

Happy Australia day to all.
