We need your help!
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in Australia and the second most common cancer to cause death in women. In 2010, 14,181 women and 127 men were diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia.
The incidence of breast cancer in Australia is increasing. In 2010, the number of new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in women increased to 14,181, from 5,303 in 1982. 2014, there are expected to be about 15,270 Australian women diagnosed with breast cancer and in 2020, it is estimated that there will be 17,210 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in women.
In 2011, breast cancer was the second leading cause of cancer-related death in Australian women, accounting for 15.6 per cent of all cancer deaths in women.
But the good news is with the support from so many people willing to make a contribution the survival rate of breast cancer in women has increased in recent years. Between the periods 1982-1987 and 2006-2010, five-year relative survival increased from 72 per cent to 89.4 per cent in Australian women.
But that doesn’t mean we can relax. To help raise funds for this worthy cause Professionals Christies Beach with the help of Wallis Cinemas are holding a fundraiser.
Professionals are proud to be Diamond partners with the National Breast Cancer Foundation and to date have raised in excess of 2.2 million dollars.
This year our fundraiser will be held at Wallis Cinemas. If you purchase tickets through the Professionals Christies Beach a portion of the cost will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. We will also be auctioning off a basket of goodies to further contribute to the charity.
The more tickets we sell, the more money we raise. So tell your friends and family.
Make sure you purchase the tickets from the Professionals office at 71 Beach Road Christies Beach, otherwise you will not be contributing to the charity.
