We have had a few enquiries from clients recently wondering if we know why Weatherald Terrace Port Noarlunga (connects to Esplanade) is closed.
According to the City of Onkaparinga’s website, the road will be closed for approximately 8 months from 29/01/2018 to allow for upgrades to be carried out.
“Council is upgrading 2.5km of foreshore between Port Noarlunga and Port Noarlunga South.
The project will see Weatherald Terrace closed to through traffic for approximately eight months, commencing late January 2018.
Access to the South Port Bridge and surf lifesaving club will be maintained from one direction only during the construction period – initially from the south (via the Esplanade).” – Road Closures
According to the website the project will be carried out in 2 stages and will include:
” – extension of the shared use path along the foreshore as part of the State Government’s Coast Park project.
– 400m of retaining and reinforcement work along Weatherald Terrace to prevent further erosion
– a new boardwalk and stairs to the South Port bridge
– road realignment
– reconfiguration of ramps around the existing Weatherald Terrace toilet block to make them compliant with the Disability Act”
