Do you want your garden to stand out at your next open or routine inspection?

Here are some handy gardening tips.

Mow and trim edges

To most of you it will be obvious that you need to mow your lawns, however not everyone remembers. What is perhaps a little less obvious to some people is that you also need to trim the edges and do it neatly. It makes such a difference to the overall appearance of a garden if you put in a little extra time to do these things properly.

Prune

If you regularly keep up with the pruning, the entire plant will be much greener. Sometimes people prune just before their inspection and cut away all the new green growth and are left with a dead looking bush because the sun has not been able to get to the undergrowth.

Pots

Having plants in pots is great way to brighten up a paved or concreted area. If you don’t have a lot of time to care for plants, succulents can be a good option, as they are very low maintenance.

You may also want to consider hiring a gardener if you don’t have the time or ability to care for it.

Poison weeds

It is best to poison weeds on a dry day about 2 weeks prior to your inspection. And make sure that you don’t just poison them and leave the dead weeds, pull them out too.

A few extra things

  • Regularly water your lawns and garden. It is best not to do this in full sun.
  • Ensure rubbish and clutter are removed from sight.
  • Sweep.
  • If you have an outdoor setting, make sure it is clean and free from clutter.
  • Plan your pruning and mowing so that you have room in your green bin and can hopefully have it emptied before the inspection.
  • Try to keep your bins located in a less obvious position. Keep them tucked away.
