Last Friday morning, the Onkaparinga Prayer Breakfast once again brought our community together for a meaningful gathering rooted in faith, reflection, and generosity. The mission of this committee has always been to create a space where our community, united by a shared belief in God, can connect, reflect, and make a difference. This annual event is organised not only to share a meal but also to raise funds for those in need, fostering a sense of unity and purpose.

The Onkaparinga Prayer Breakfast serves multiple purposes. It’s a time when we come together to share a meal that nourishes both body and soul. We also invite a guest speaker to share their insights or personal experiences, inspiring reflection and growth. Finally, we raise funds in a creative and engaging way, making a meaningful impact on those in need.

This year, we were honoured to have Georgi Thomas from The Mustard Seed Family Project as our guest speaker. The Mustard Seed Project is a non-profit, charitable organisation operating in Australia. Their vision is to restore the dreams and hopes of individuals, families, and communities facing tough times.

Georgi Thomas and his family shared their journey and mission, reminding us all of the importance of giving back and supporting those in need. Their message resonated deeply with the values of our committee, and we were thrilled to have them with us.

The breakfast was held at the beautiful Serafino’s Winery and lasted for two hours, providing ample time for connection, reflection, and giving. Following the main event, we held an auction where attendees bid on mystery prizes, a highlight of the morning inspired by Kevin J Barry from Professionals Christies Beach. Kevin has had the honourable privilege of sponsoring this breakfast for the past 14 years, adding a special touch to the event with his unique style and dedication to the cause. We raised close to $3,000 that morning which will contribute to the cost of a Christmas lunch for approx. 150 homeless individuals in Whitmore Square this December.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us, whether by attending the breakfast, participating in the auction, or contributing to The Mustard Seed Family Project’s mission. Together, we made a difference and continued to build a stronger, more compassionate community.

Thank you for being a part of this tradition and for helping us support those in need.
