There’s no warmer place than home!

An Australian winter can bring anything from snow to blistering sunshine, but wherever you are in the country, we know that there’s no warmer place than home!

Winter signals cooler weather, bed socks and flannelette sheets –
It’s the time of year when the warmth of home calls!

Winter can unfortunately also bring with it some nasty surprises when the cold and wild weather begins to hit, and it’s often a time when some previously unknown and sometimes serious maintenance issues can rear their ugly heads, making home much less cozy. For example, rain can make leaks in roofs become apparent, blocked gutters and down pipes start over flowing, or the heating suddenly stops working making it very uncomfortable.

Thankfully, a little preventative maintenance can go a long way and can often save a lot of expense and inconvenience down the track.

While our experienced Property Managers conduct regular routine inspections and notify landlords of any noticeable or reported maintenance items, we are not building inspectors, and some issues are not always visible or immediately obvious and it’s not until a problem occurs that an issue becomes apparent.

This is where regular proactive attention to items such as; servicing of air conditioning units including a proper winter shut down of evaporative coolers, servicing of gas heaters, cleaning of chimneys and fireplaces, regular cleaning of gutters, the lopping of an over hanging tree branch or securing of an unstable fence that could fall in strong winds are hugely important and can help to prevent future problems and large expenses in the long run – protecting your investment while ensuring you have a happy tenant who loves their home and increasing the likelihood they will want to stay long term.

The needs of each property are different and not all of the above may apply to your home; however all properties, even a newer home, will benefit further from a little tender loving care and pre-emptive up-keep to help safe guard against any preventable issues.
