Christies Beach real estate agent, Graeme Walker

Senior Sales Consultant, Graeme Walker had to double take, while doing an open inspection at a vacant home, he noticed an old newspaper lining a shelf. Out of curiosity he picked up the paper to find it was dated 3/3/1973. Graeme thought he would have a read of some of the old articles and while browsing through the 1973 paper he found a familiar ad that caught his attention. Back in 1973 when Graeme started his career in real estate, new agents had to place a public notice advert in the paper to say that they were applying for their real estate license, in case there was anyone who would object.

Graeme was surprised to find his public notice advertisement after all these years in a property that he was trying to sell. The notice read: “PURSUANT to the Land Agents Regulations. T, Graeme Robert Walker, of 36 Castle st,. Reynella S.A. 5161, hereby give notice that I intend to apply to the Land Agents Board for registration as a Land Salesman, under the Land Agents Act, 1955-1964. Dated this day, March 1. 1973. Signed G. R. Walker.”.

This was an interesting find for Graeme, symbolising the beginning of his career in real estate. Graeme began his career working for Harry Lose, it was there that he met George Kennedy (former Managing Director of the Morphett Vale and Christies Beach Professionals branches), who always joked that he had 2 weeks more experience than Graeme! From there Graeme started up ‘Graeme Walker Real Estate’ and not long after that he and George crossed paths again when Graeme called George looking for a buyer, Graeme ended the call with a bit more than he asked for; not only did he get a buyer but George offered him a desk in his new company ‘Geo. Kennedy Real Estate’. After sometime, George joined the Professionals Group and became ‘Geo. Kennedy Professionals’ and Graeme has been part of the Professionals group ever since.
