Join us for South Australia’s premier celebration of surf art, now in its 20th year. To celebrate we are pulling out all the stops!
The Surf Art Exhibition will be launched by our CEO Mark Dowd at the Arts Centre, Port Noarlunga on Friday 13 December, 6pm.
Local band the Artisans will provide the tunes and there will be a prize for the best outfit. So dust off your outrageous Hawaiian shirts, wide-brimmed hats and board shorts.
On Saturday 14 December, bring your boards down to Port Noarlunga foreshore and help us break the Guinness World Record for longest line of surfboards. We need more than 200 boards. Arrive at 1pm for a 2pm count.
Following our blitzing of the World Record, you are invited to view surf movies under the stars in the Eastern car park of the Arts Centre, Port Noarlunga from 6pm (movies will start at sundown). The highlight of the night will be Chasing the Surf, created by Chris Warren and Stephen Sard. ‘When the surfing craze hit South Australia it started a stampede by young men to chase down the best surf spots from Robe to Cactus on the west coast,’ Chris says. We will also be screening surf classic Endless Summer, kindly provided by Bruce Brown films.
Adding to the beach flavour, the car park will be filled with sand so be sure to pack a bean bag, beach towel or deck chair. While this is a free event, please note bookings are essential. Bar facilities will be available and food will be on sale from participating local cafes.
