Onkaparinga council have recently completed the $8.75 million redevelopment of the Woodcroft Community Centre – a ground breaking ‘green building’ that is home to the Woodcroft library, the Woodcroft and Morphett Vale Neighbourhood Centre and now council customer service.
This means you can:
- find out about services
- make an enquiry
- make payments, such as dog registrations and rates
- visit your local library
- participate in a range of community-initiated
- learning experiences and events.
The new library features popular attractions such as a Wii, an audio booth, children’s library and toy library.
This major redevelopment transformed the existing building and car park into an environmentally sound and modern facility for the community to enjoy in just 10 months.
The project was originally programmed to take 14 months but through collaboration of the various stakeholders below the project program was significantly reduced:
- Managing Contractor, ISIS
- JPE design studio & consultants
- Department of Transport Energy and Infrastructure
- Woodcroft College
- Woodcroft Shopping Centre
- Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population
and Communities, Green Precinct Team - council Steering Committee including Neighbourhood Centre representatives.
This flagship building is a showcase for green building initiatives and a trail in the building highlights the many features of reuse, recycled materials and environmentally sustainable devices throughout the building and surrounds.
This innovative project was supported by the Australian Government with funding of $750,000 through the Green Precincts Program.
ISIS Group were the Managing contractor on the Woodcroft Community Centre redevelopment project. ISIS engaged placemagazine to undertake the video below to demonstrate how their company worked in collaboration with the City of Onkaparinga to transform a substandard site into a modern, sustainable precinct for the community to enjoy.
